Despite not having received Jedi training in the movies, a cosplay shows what Finn might have looked like throughout the films if he had.

Finn once again wields an iconic blue lightsaber in a fantastic cosplay harnessing his look from Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Portrayed by John Boyega, Finn is introduced as a stormtrooper who deserts his role in the First Order and eventually meets with Rey before joining the Resistance. Prior to the release of the new trilogy, Finn not only had a central role in the trailers, posters, and other marketing material, but he was also often shown holding a lightsaber.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Photographer @LuckyX101 posted his cosplay on Twitter in honor of Star Wars Day on May 4. In a great callback to Finn’s look from The Last Jedi, the cosplay shows the former stormtrooper in the jacket borrowed from Poe Dameron and a medallion belonging to Rose Tico. Behind him sits a TIE fighter likely belonging to the Resistance, and some great editing has his weapon looking like the real deal. Sadly, Finn doesn’t get to use the lightsaber in that movie, but this cosplay brings the idea to life.

Could Finn Have Changed The Star Wars Sequels As A Jedi? Early versions of Star Wars: The Force Awakens portrayed Finn as much more involved with the Jedi. Despite the changes made to his storyline, the fan-favorite character seemed to be Force-sensitive in several movie moments, leaving Finn's future open to Jedi possibilities. However, it would have been thrilling to see a stormtrooper receive official Jedi training in the saga films.

The tremendous pressure that plagues Rey after the events of The Last Jedi would have been much easier to handle had Finn been at her side throughout her training, even if she continued to struggle. As Rey grapples with the call of the dark side and Kylo Ren, Finn’s past as a soldier for the evil post-Empire First Order could have set him up to be the foil to her conflict.
