As of last week, more than 70,000 borrowers have qualified for debt forgiveness since the Biden administration began relaxing stringent rules around Public Service Loan Forgiveness last fall.

Jane Saunders, who received her doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin in 2008 and taught English for a decade, didn't know about federal student loan forgiveness until a friend recommended she consolidate her loans in 2011.

"I couldn't breathe when I saw the zero balance," Saunders said."You know how your life is supposed to flash by you as you're dying? It was kind of like that only now I could see a potentially different life in front of me. One where I could buy a car or maybe take a summer off for once." "Even trying to put more in now that the loans are gone is going to mean I work until 70 likely," said Saunders, 56."And it's not gonna be a luxurious retirement even at that age."

Low public confidence in Supreme Court as Breyer retiresJustice Stephen Breyer's impending retirement from the Supreme Court gives President Joe Biden his first pick at a time when the American public has increasingly negative views of the high court. The shift in recent years has followed former President Donald Trump’s seating of three justices who gave the court a 6-3 conservative bent on most contentious issues. Negative views of the court have come from both Republicans and Democrats, but Breyer’s retirement is a window of opportunity for Biden before competitive midterm elections.

Private Management Of Public Housing Led To Erosion Of Tenants’ Rights, Report Finds'We now confirm what tenants have long suspected,” Councilmember Alexa Avilés said about a report that evictions 'significantly' increased after the New York City Housing Authority turned over thousands of public housing apartments to for-profit operators. Ever stop to think that maybe these people SHOULD be evicted? And the city, in all of its incompetence, just took longer to do so? Walk near any public housing facility in NYC and you will firsthand see 5-10 people, that if you lived there, would wish they didn't. Shocking im shocked. water is wet.
