It came as the social media company faces broad criticism from lawmakers and regulators over its privacy practices. Last month, Facebook agreed to pay a record $5 billion fine to settle a Federal Trade Commission data privacy probe. Facebook allegedly accomplished this through its “Tag Suggestions” feature, which allowed users to recognize their Facebook friends from previously uploaded photos.
The court returned the case to U.S. District Judge James Donato in San Francisco, who had certified a class action in April 2018, for a possible trial.
This is definitely a great news. I'm happy to know that this new function is not getting added in Facebook. They just want different ways to collect peoples data, that's why FB is taking these things. I'm glad I invested my money in vid_app cuz it allows me to keep my data safe.

The world can do without Facebook I hope they crumble
Facebook said they have always disclosed their use of facial recognotiin technology. I just asked a group of friends who use Facebook, if they were aware of that. The answer was a resounding no. Facebook like so many other companies steal your privacy in disclosure obfuscation.
