With an eye toward redistricting in 2022, a national Republican group is planning a seven-figure ad campaign in Ohio to help the GOP maintain its control of the Ohio Supreme Court.

COLUMBUS, Ohio –

The ads represent the first major spending from outside groups in this year’s Supreme Court races. The court is up for grabs, with Republicans currently holding a narrow 4-3 majority, although O’Connor has been a swing vote who has voted with Democrats on redistricting and some other high-profile cases.

“National liberals like Eric Holder are determined to stack courts across the country with their radical liberal allies who will draw them favorable congressional maps from the bench, and it’s time for Republicans to fight back like never before,” Duncan said. “Ohioans have an opportunity this year to reject the extremism of Republicans on the bench and put the court back in the hands of judges like Jennifer Brunner, Terri Jamison and Marilyn Zayas who believe in the rule of law. For too long, we’ve seen the GOP-led court use the bench to play politics, and it’s time to restore integrity and justice back to the Supreme Court,” Keyes said.

PolitiFact - Scaring voters to the polls? How political ads use crime statistics to try to sway votersOne message in campaign ads from Republican candidates and their allies ahead of the Nov. 8 elections is this: America is a dangerous place. Democrats made it that way. Ads in governor, U.S. Senate and U.S. House races aim to trigger fear. In New York the bike and escoooter industry is booming because people are afraid to use the subway. I've always said the 'Home of the Brave' trope was bullshit. I’m voting for the economy. It’s not fair that 3% of the population commits 50% of violent crime when looking at age ranges of 15-28. They all live in urban cities and no one can do anything until the culture changes. Neither party can stop that avalanche of crime from 3%

Nice work as always PolitiFact for campaigning on behalf of the Left. Yet it was Republicans who violently attacked & threatened to kill Americans in the US Capitol. Why can’t they see themselves? They’re like vampires sucking the life blood out the rest of us. As you note, “crime” is third with “abortion” the largest. Obviously, those ads are every bit playing the fear angle too. Or is that a separate post on the website?
