Do men fare worse with COVID-19? Here are some insights from research and experts: via kkelland

ARE MEN MORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO INFECTION WITH THE NEW CORONAVIRUS?In Italy, an analysis of more than 127,700 COVID-19 cases found that 52.9% of all infected people were men and 47.1% women. Among Italy’s first 14,860 deaths, almost 68% were men.

“Evidence is mounting that men are experiencing more severe symptoms and have a higher mortality rate when compared to women,” said James Gill, a specialist at Warwick Medical School. There are still many outstanding questions around why men are more frequently and harder hit by COVID-19 infection, but health specialists point to a number of possible factors.

The sex differential in smoking is particularly marked in China, where 50% of men smoke, compared to 5% of women. In Italy, a 2018 analysis found smoking was more common among men than women across all adult age groups.Another factor is the relative strength of the male and female immune responses. Research shows that immune response throughout life - to everything from vaccines and infections to autoimmune diseases - is typically more aggressive in women than in men. With COVID-19, a respiratory disease caused by a coronavirus, this may be a particularly significant factor.

LadyRed_6 So.. the current findings are statistically insignificant and well inside any reasonable error bars?

'(Men have) Lower levels of handwashing and hygiene'. - Ouch.

Dont let your family get on a boat with the Main Stream Media....

Only when discussing men do you ever see the words “behavioral” and “biological”.

Its because when you walk in a mens bathroom you will see 85% walk out after using the facilities without washing their hands.... Yes I am a man and see this ish all the time.

Men' behaviors are similar to dogs. And, dogs are animal. Women are cats similarly. Dogs and cats are like bully v chickens.

This could be fake news and scare mongering, don’t spread without real data and facts. Current Data only shows deaths in hospitals and not at home. You have no facts about the suffering at home. Stop spreading rubbish news.

the 'aggressive' immune system theory.. is flawed. look up..'cytokine storm'. it's when the immune system over reacts, causing problems.

Yet somehow women claim to be worse affected

Men are truly an endangered specie... Wars come to claim us in droves Crime takes a junk Higest prison inmates are men Political thuggery snuff out more Catholic church grabs more men Deprssiom takes even more Why men 😳 😳 😳 😳 😳

Why not? Mother Nature wants us dead from birth. That's why she gives us zero sense.

Men 50% more likely to die from pandemic.

Imo thats a hand hygene +/or smoking habit 😷✌

The gender gap is actually about lethality more than infection susceptibility.

So far Covid-19 is sexist and racist. I’m sure the ‘Left’ will defeat it with a protest march and a petition on the govt website then...

Could that be because mostly men are venturing out for the shopping?

You need 'research' to get the numbers from a website?

So can we assume that Virus is telling us that men and women are not same? Or may be they have a stronger natural defence system.

Covid19 is sexist and I’ve said this all along.

A well known fact . . .

kkelland So it seems - ilariacapua has been speaking about it recently!

kkelland But what if I was the last man on Earth do you think there would be a woman that would choose me if she could have any man?

kkelland Let’s see how many of the equality nuggets pipe up here.. 🤷🏻

Every Star Who Has Tested Positive for COVID-19John Taylor of Duran Duran shared his positive diagnosis on April 6. 'I have decided to share with you that I tested positive with the Corona Virus almost three weeks ago. Perhaps I am a particularly robust 59 year old - I like to think I am - or was blessed with getting only a mild case of Covid 19 - but after a week or so of what I would describe as a 'Turbo-charged Flu', I came out of it feeling okay- although I must admit I didn't mind the quarantine as it gave me the chance to really recover,' he wrote on Instagram.
