Ex-Atlanta policeman charged in Brooks' death freed from jail, official says

ATLANTA - The former Atlanta police officer charged in last month’s death of Rayshard Brooks, which touched off days of anti-racism protests, has been released from jail on bail, an official said on Wednesday.

Rolfe left Gwinnett County Jail at 12:27 a.m. EDT on Wednesday, according to county Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Shannon Volkodav. At a hearing on Tuesday, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Jane Barwick said she would allow Rolfe to be freed from jail while awaiting trial because she did not believe the former officer was a danger to the community or a flight risk.

Why are policemen getting freed early ? different rules I guess part off the system or is it because its not safe for him to be in jail you do the crime you pay the price

It's was probably safer for him in jail and more peaceful in the hearts of the people to not think he is roaming the streets. I thought bail was initially set for $1.25M? Where are GBI and the grand jury on the issue? Last I read, no decision had been reached.

He should have thought about how precious life is before shooting to kill a drunk man who was running away from him. Now we can see in his eyes the consideration. He is thinking of the value of his own freedom that he threw away so cavalierly. Everyone is sad. For what?

But he feared for his life. BS he shot a fleeing suspect in the back. Cops are scared. Everyone is strapped. The make sure your the one who goes home training and culture is the problem. Every confrontation is life or death, siege mentality. Cops are necessary, and so is reform.
