Apple helped develop USB-C and shoved it down Mac users’ throats, who didn’t have a choice but to use it or else spend a fortune in dongles.
Apple couldn't even make up their mind. My wife has a drawer full of pathetic Apple dongles from the last decade. I'm glad someone is helping Apple out.

Proposed new rules. While Apple is using USB-C already in some of their iPad product line. Their supplied power bricks are USB-C. It’s a small step to change the future phones and products to USB-C. If it’s wise? USB-D on the horizon? Or just Thunderbolt.
