The approval is for projects in Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Poland and Sweden to support research and innovation in the common European priority area of batteries. “Battery production in Europe is of strategic interest for our economy and society because of its potential in terms of clean mobility and energy, job creation, sustainability and competitiveness,” said Margrethe Vestager, Executive Vice-President responsible for competition.

Useless. Research is not the problem. All universities already have programs and budgets and have been for years if not decades. Progresses are made every day. It takes time (and risk) to bring the tech to market. With most of the best universities in the world the US is leading.

All while here in America Trump's pushing fossil fuels and wants to lower emission standards on all vehicles, and denying and hiding pertinent facts about climate change
