Relations between the U.S. and China — the world's top two economies — look set to worsen, said Graham Allison, Harvard University's Douglas Dillon Professor of Government.

U.S.-China relations look set to worsen, and the endgame is a "lose-lose" situation for both sides, said Graham Allison, a political science professor from Harvard University.

The rivalry could result in the collapse of the so-called phase one trade deal and a continuation of the blame game over the origins of the coronavirus, said Allison, Harvard's Douglas Dillon Professor of Government. Even though relations between the U.S. and China have deteriorated much faster than expected, neither is prepared for a Cold War, said Cheng Li from Brookings Institution.Teh Eng Koon | AFP via Getty Images

Harvard? Lol.....Harvard is a joke now.

American businesses are naturally in favour of maintaining the status quo in the business relationship with China's businesses. When the business owners are asked by their own government to decouple, their losses, costs and time are naturally inhibitive.

Of course, it's Russia's command.

We support China

🇨🇳🇨🇳🇨🇳🇨🇳🇨🇳❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

It’d be nice if there was never a trade war at all. Want a tv? You’re out of luck. New computer your building? Oh that’s right, nope can’t do that either.

cnbc correction ... Lose-lose-lose inclusive of the rest of the World.

rethink please …

Upholding freedom, democracy and human rights will always be a big win for the United States, the world and for all humanity.

It is not the US-China rivalry. It is how the international community responds to the risk that Chinese Communist party presented to the rest of the world. A series of risks including this pandemic results from the failure of the US engagement policy in the past 30 years.

It will be a decade of depression and debt if trade wars, tariffs and nationalism continue in various countries! Otherwise, hyper economic growth, due to the increasing size of the middle class in Asia, Africa, etc. who want the lifestyle, products + services enjoyed in the West

Professor, if you can make one friend who steal your 30-years of research work and publish it, then you can talk about US making friend with China

CH already knows it while RS is nonstop lauging on the stupid trump and his WH ass-kissing clowns. RS is too mean by trying to keep trump in the WH to make the US like a bastard in this world for having no friend! C'mon putin, cut people a break.

And yet, while China is holding up it's end of the Trade Deal, Trump is running for office as China-basher-in-Chief. How long is China supposed to take this? Surely at the patience with Trump has to end, and that will be a bigger loser for the USA as EU is swayed by China 1.4Bn.

The US corporations might take a hit, but in the long term this will only hurt China, as China (besides debt trap countries) has little allies

Did we need a Harvard prof to understand that?

No I think Usa win and China lose

Oh well viruses cured! The S&P is 3k again and Powell go brrrrrr.

Just because you teach does not make you a forecaster. The rules of the game do not bode well for those that follow them if the partner does not adhere to them too. You bow u loose. Better not and rebuild your base, make things here.

Perfect!

This article is a joke - no substance.

Thousands of American businesses depend on China's cheap labor, but conservatives believe that isolationism is the only way to stop corporate espionage. Meanwhile, why does IvankaTrump have a dozen Chinese patents?

the result should be CCP lose more.

Harvard has big stakes in China. 'Nuff said.

Who cares what a HARVARD Professor thinks. Try quoting them in some safe space.

It’s a lose for China not us. It’s a lose for us if we let them run

A Harvard prof would say that.

I welcome the the day when CNBC and ALL media like it, cease to exist

It's a win for everyone sick of both of them after they've nuked each other

Dumbest headline on the internet today

Harvard has a CCP problem...Big League

How do, more explanation probabaly not the best platform for you guys.

Lefty academics said the same thing about the Soviet Union.

Pressure to choose sides between U.S. and China is growing, says EU's top diplomat'If the 21st century turns out to be an Asian century, as the 20th was an American one, the pandemic may well be remembered as the turning point of this process,' EU chief Josep Borrell said. Think Don may not fair well if Europeans make that choice. In three recent trips to Europe we quickly discovered Europeans do not like Mr. Trump. Good thing we've been assiduously maintaining our relationships with allies and not alienating them with idiotic slogans like 'America First.' Oh wait😱 Don’t like Trump but US better. China can’t be trusted. Too hungry for world domination capable of anything without a conscience.
