took home the award for Outstanding Variety Special. But most of the evening was spent watching people of color present awards to their white counterparts. And while Television Academy head Frank Scherma presented the Governors Award to dancer, choreographer, actress, writer and director Debbie Allen — the first Black woman to receive that honor — his introductory speech crowing about diversity was particularly jarring in light of the night’s events.
Despite a few much-deserved wins, the Emmys seem to have a lot of work to do in terms of representation. For now, it looks like the label #EmmysSoWhite remains fitting.
I love Ted Lasso but there is no way that actor playing the angry team captain was the greatest supporting actor of all tv last year. Award shows love awarding legacy and Kenan was right there!
Maybe they won because they deserved to?
Do you really think giving awards to minorities just because they’re minorities advances the movement for equality for all people If anything this type of thinking causes steps backwards! Everything isn’t a race issue, be better!

It’s supposed to be Art? Why do we care what the creators look like?
So was it awarded on talent or race?

Don't the voters understand by now that art is not about talent? It's what's on the outside that counts!
