Drummer Ronnie Tutt worked with The King Elvis Presley for almost a decade. He also performed with artists including Johnny Cash, Stevie Nicks, Kenny Rogers and Elvis Costello

The percussionist's death was confirmed in a tribute posted on the Instagram page of Presley's former home Graceland.Tutt was remembered as a "legendary" musician who worked with The King for nearly a decade, staying part of his band until Presley's death in 1977.

A statement posted by bosses of Graceland read: "All of us with Elvis Presley Enterprises were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Ronnie Tutt."In addition to being a legendary drummer, he was a good friend to many of us here at Graceland. We enjoyed each time he joined us here to celebrate Elvis Week, Elvis’ Birthday and many other special occasions.

"Ronnie was an amazing ambassador to Elvis’ legacy - sharing his memories of working with Elvis with fans - as well as bringing Elvis’ music to arenas around the globe through later Elvis in Concert shows and performances." The statement from Graceland bosses went on: "Ronnie Tutt played drums for Elvis as part of the TCB Band from 1969 until 1977. He was part of the band put together by James Burton for Elvis’ 1969 Las Vegas opening - and stayed with Elvis until his death in 1977. headtopics.com

"Ronnie later toured with Neil Diamond's band. He also recorded and performed with the likes of Johnny Cash, Glen Campbell, Kenny Rogers, Elvis Costello, Stevie Nicks, Michael McDonald, among others."Our hearts go out to Donna, his family, his fellow TCB Band members - and to his fans around the world. He will be deeply missed by all of us."

No more details about his death were released.Tutt was part of Presley's TCB Band which disbanded after The King's death.The musician went on to work with other big name stars including Jerry Garcia, Neil Diamond, Johnny Cash, Kenny Rogers and Stevie Nicks.

He was Diamond's go-to drummer for many years, touring and recording with the Sweet Caroline star.Tutt also worked with Billy Joel, playing drums on two of his albums including 1973's Piano Man, and The Carpenters.Tributes have poured in for the musician on Twitter, with one fan writing: "Godspeed, Ronnie Tutt Drummer to #THEKING #ElvisForever."

Another wrote: "We just heard the news that Ronnie Tutt passed away today (10/16/21) at age 83. "Our deepest condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and all those who were influenced and whose lives were enriched by his amazing talents. headtopics.com
