Crusius walked into the courtroom wearing a dark suit, white shirt and glasses. He was sworn in, waived the reading of his indictment and pleaded not guilty. The entire hearing lasted less than three minutes.
Among the crowd was a delegation from the Mexican Consulate. Eight Mexican citizens were killed in the attack and most of the victims had Hispanic last names. One person killed was a German citizen who lived in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico.Some two-dozen people survived the attack with injuries, and two of them remain in the hospital, hospital officials said.
There were 2,000 witnesses at the scene of the massacre, so almost everybody in the city of about 700,000 knew somebody affected by the shooting. Crusius fled the scene of the shooting in his car but turned himself in less than an hour later, according to police. His arrest warrant says he declared “I’m the shooter.” Police have said he published a racist screed a few minutes before the shooting, saying he wanted to kill Latinos to balkanize the U.S. along racial lines.

The judge should order a closed courtroom with no media or leaks to the media allowed. The shooter just wants publicity for his ridiculous manifesto and beliefs. No other reason to plead innocent when he already confessed and there are so many witnesses.

I want to say that I'm some kind of rational, enlightened person, but honestly, after reading this story, all I think is 'hang him.' I don't care what he thinks his reasoning is. If he's found guilty, hang him. He earned it.

I feel like this plea is more about the death penalty aspect than the crime itself. Reading the defense’s comment in the article that was the impression I got. Maybe they’re pleading NG so they can have a bargaining chip to get that taken off the table later.
I vote in favor of handing him over to the victim families. They do as they see please. Put him in a cage, kill him, forgive him, whatever they want.
