California is a state full of great thinkers, creators and contributors to the story of the state and the history of the world.

There’s also Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, labor and civil rights leaderand naturalist John Muir, who was instrumental in the creation of Yosemite, Kings and Sequoia national parks. He wrote some ignorant and nasty things about Native Americans in his earlier work but later came to change his viewpoints.

Judge imposes harsher sentence than requested on man accused of encouraging U.S. Capitol riotersA judge on Thursday imposed a longer prison term than prosecutors requested on a Dallas man accused of posting inflammatory social media messages inciting people to violence at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 even though he did not himself participate directly in the rioting. U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan sentenced Troy Smocks, 58, to 14 months incarceration and three years supervised release after he entered a guilty plea to a charge of making threats in interstate communication. Smocks, who is Black, told the judge that the Justice Department had treated him differently than white defendants who participated directly in the riot, which followed a speech by then-President Donald Trump, a Republican, at a nearby rally repeating his false claims that his election loss to Democrat Joe Biden was the result of widespread fraud. Thats a load of garbage I am in favor of black defendants like Smocks here being treated equally as the white insurrectionists, as he requests; I think each and every white defendant should be sentenced to a year-plus in prison, as Smocks has now been.

House votes to hold Steve Bannon in contempt for defying subpoenaJUST IN: The House has voted to hold Steve Bannon, one of former President Donald Trump's closest allies, in criminal contempt of Congress after he defied a subpoena from the committee investigating the January 6 attack on the US Capitol. so he's contemptible, eh ;) He is a felon the minute he indicted the insurrection and sedition on January 6th. Everyone who supports Dump on or after that date should be declared a felon too for being accessories, with a ten year suspended sentence. The felony record means no voting, or weapon ownership

Alabama native charged in Jan. 6 insurrection denied releaseAn Alabama native whom a judge alleged was “leading the charge” during the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol was denied release Thursday in an Alaska courtroom while his case proceeds. Christian Matthew Manley then waived his right to preliminary hearing and asked that he be immediately transferred to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, the jurisdiction prosecuting those charged in the riot. Manley was soft spoken and polite, calling U.S. Magistrate Judge Matthew McCrary Scoble “sir” during his detention hearing in U.S. District Court in Anchorage.

Kevin McCarthy isn't a fan of Donald Trump's threat that Republican voters sit out the 2022 or 2024 elections.Kevin McCarthy isn't a fan of Donald Trump's threat that Republican voters sit out the 2022 or 2024 elections. “People should participate in their elections,” McCarthy said today. Fear is also an equalizer. Lol, he wants people to participate in elections but republicans don't recognize votes, elections? January 6 was all about republicans not recognizing votes...and elections I would recommend that they sit out all elections until they can vote responsibly.
