Ed Sheeran shocked fans this week with a post announcing the birth of his second child. Sheeran and his wife, Cherry Seaborn, kept the pregnancy and birth under wraps until the pop singer posted the update on May 19.
Sheeran shared the news with a minimalistic photo featuring only a brown quilted blanket and a delicate pair of infant socks. “Want to let you all know we’ve had another beautiful baby girl. We are both so in love with her and over the moon to be a family of four,” Sheeran said in the caption. The announcement was a pleasant surprise to many Sheeran supporters who hadn’t seen or heard that Seaborn was expecting. Followers took to the comments to express their surprise and delight with messages like “WHAT” and “Congrats, Ed! I can’t wait for the music you make that’s inspired by her.”
In September 2020, Sheeran posted a similarly styled quilt and sock photo to welcome his first daughter Lyra Antarctica Seaborn. Sheeran expressed his gratitude to the delivery team and thankfulness for a healthy mom and baby before asking fans to respect their privacy. The happy couple met in high school before reuniting in New York City and marrying in 2018. The duo has been adamant about keeping their personal life as private as possible. Sheeran and Seaborn have not shared photos of their 1-year-old Lyra since her birth and have yet to release their second daughter’s name or birth details.
