The Woodlands guard Shey Eberwein shoots past Oak Ridge guard Caeden Thomas during a District 13-6A high school basketball game at Oak Ridge High School, Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2022.OAK RIDGE NORTH — The Woodlands started District 13-6A play with a balanced first quarter with six players combining offensively.
“It helps Shey when everybody else is stepping up,” The Woodlands coach Dale Reed said. “We haven’t shot as well as maybe we would like to. Tonight, I felt like we took great shots and the kids made great decisions.” The Woodlands led by nine points at halftime before outscoring the War Eagles in the third quarter 25-12 and 41-21 in the second half all together.“It was very disappointing,” Oak Ridge coach Randy Appiah said. “I thought we did okay in the first half, especially to get it to five points and then they were able to close out the half with a nice little run and get up by nine.”
Said Appiah, “They reversed the tables on us, they ran out and attacked the paint, and they were able to pull away.”“The 30 points was all to my teammates,” Eberwein said. “I couldn’t do it without them.”
