The book, criticized for its depiction of Asians, is one of several legacy D&D titles to receive the disclaimer.

In order for D&D to grow into a more inclusive hobby, both Wizards of the Coast and the role-playing community need to listen to diverse voices without falling back on “knee-jerk reactions,” said Kwan’s podcast co-host, who asked to be identified only by his Twitter name,“I think it’s very easy for human beings who have a connection with a piece of media to say, ‘Well, if it’s bad, am I a bad person?’” he said. “The answer is obviously no, you’re not a bad person.

Wizards of the Coast’s diversity statement said that the company will be “incorporating” sensitivity readers in the future. But at the moment, mentions of Kara-tur are present even In response to people calling him a “book burner,” Kwan argued that, ideally, Wizards of the Coast should demonetize all problematic legacy titles and place them in an online archive similar to a museum, where interested people can access them alongside “a public disclaimer, apology and annotations.”

I Have Some Questions for the Sensitivity Committee That Approved This Swastika NecklaceIf it feels like just yesterday the clothing company Shein was apologizing for selling a very poorly conceived product then that feeling is correct. On Monday, the company issued an apology after selling what it referred to as a “fringe trim Greek fret carpet,” which was actually a Muslim prayer rug. The rugs, advertised as decorative carpets, included images of the Kaaba, a holy site in the Muslim faith. As part of their apology, Shein stated that they would employ a “product review committee” to prevent something like this from happening again. Too soon? The swastika is a sacred, ancient, Hindu symbol for peace. In India, the symbol is carved on temples everywhere. I wonder if there is a way ,for those to whom the symbol is an important one with a religious history, to take back its meaning? I don’t know the answer to that. As shown, that is an Indian swastika, not a Nazi symbol, which runs clockwise. Don’t know how you’d keep it facing that way if you wore it, mind you, but the swastika is an ancient symbol of good fortune, sadly appropriated by the Nazis.
