A dump truck smashed through a guard rail and off the Morena Boulevard off-ramp from west Interstate 8 in Mission Valley Wednesday morning, ending up overturned in a riverbed.
San Diego firefighters and California Highway Patrol officers responded to the crash, which was reported around 10:20 a.m. The driver was extricated from the overturned vehicle and transported to a hospital to be treated for serious injuries, a San Diego Fire-Rescue spokesperson said. The CHP has closed northbound Morena from Taylor Street for an extended period of time because of a diesel fuel spill, the spokesperson said. San Diego Fire-Rescue HAZMAT crews responded and are working to clean up the spill.A dump truck driver was seriously injured in the Mission Valley crash Thursday.
