I disagree. It's a movie, don't project. In the opening scene he and his father see her before they are shot. She is not really on beach. Second, within the first few scenes she has her laptop and phone. She chooses to stay in Sicily. She is in control.

I agree the movie glamorizes abusive and violent behaviour, but at the same time it shows that good looking, powerful men do these things. Often victims of violence are dismissed because the perpetrator 'could have any woman and didn't need to rape/abuse/gaslight the victim'.
