The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 1.2%, over 300 points, on Wednesday, while the S&P 500 rose 0.8% and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite gained 0.7%., with all three major averages posting their first monthly losses since March, when the stock market hit a low point during the coronavirus pandemic.
