ATLANTA, Ga. - Naomi Ruth Barber King, a Dothan native, civil rights activist and sister-in-law to the late Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., has died at age 92.After moving to Atlanta, King excelled in her public school education, specifically in her French and English classes.
Ms. King attended Spelman College, where she studied French for a year before marrying A.D. After leaving Spelman, she transferred to the University of Alabama.The couple supported Martin Luther King Jr. and his leadership in the Civil Rights Movement. Both were at his side during multiple historic events, including the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, one of the most famous political rallies in U.S. history.
