Ukraine’s president has repeatedly called for calm in the face of the Russian buildup, telling a news conference that there's too much “panic.”

but ahead of Zelenskyy's news conference, Putin said Friday that it had not addressed Moscow’s main security demands.

The country’s leaders could be downplaying the possibility of invasion “to avoid panic among their own population,” said Keir Giles, a senior consulting fellow of the Russia and Eurasia Program at the London-based think tank Chatham House. However, he added, “the enormous intelligence collection capabilities of the United States might well have led to a different picture from Kyiv’s intimate knowledge of the adversary.”

The US needs to back off and let the aEuropeans handle the situation. US would get involved after Russia invades Ukraine.

Sirs, Crimea was a gift of peace and may have not been agreeable by the people of Crimea at the time. Should this decision not be decided by the people of Crimea and not a war induced decision? Why can't we think in peaceful terms? KremlinRussia_E Ukraine Russia

I would say to mr. zelenskiyua that is good to keep calm but for the true security of Ukraine the population must serve as a warning net around its borders and for them to do that they must know the truth. Lying to them will not get things better but will soften their security.

Hi

If they indeed moved blood to the border, blood banks have about a 42 day shelf life. Unless they let it go to waste, an invasion would happen within that timeframe.

I'm with this guy. The U.S. freaked out in the 50s over what Russia was doing and it led to the overthrow of two democratic governments and failing to overthrow a third. Cooler heads and all that.

He’s like “The Americans are pretending Russia will invade in order to distract their people from massive inflation.”

Agree. Let’s let them figure it out on their own and see how that works out for them.

Probably this fellow's last news conference. 🤔

Germany should abandon the US and ally themselves with Russia.

Biden's screwed up phone call only made things worse. Sad!

Russia says it won’t start a war as Ukraine tensions mountRussia’s top diplomat said Friday that Moscow will not start a war in Ukraine but warned that it wouldn’t allow the West to trample on its security interests. Trumpers and fox are really disappointed by this. literally what they've been saying the entire time, it wouldn't even be news except for the fact that the US media was doing the state department a favor and spent the past month manufacturing consent for a ground war in Russia Apparently “invading a neighboring country” and “starting a war” are very different things in Russian minds.
