The Colonial Pipeline, which transports about 45% of the fuel consumed on the East Coast, has been shut down since Friday following a ransomware attack. Gas stations have fuel outages in 11 states and the District of Columbia, according to GasBuddy, which uses crowd-sourced data to track fuel demand and prices. In North Carolina, 65% of stations have outages and in Virginia, 44%, according to GasBuddy data published Wednesday afternoon.
— TJ Lundeen May 10, 2021 Sheetz, which operates gas stations in some of the affected states, told CNN Business in a statement that it's not limiting purchases but strongly encourages drivers to proceed as normal and avoid panic buying."These shortages are not due to supply issues but are a result of extremely high demand causing stores to run out of fuel before the next scheduled delivery," said Adam Sheetz, executive vice president of operations at Sheetz.
The Darwin awards are gonna be lit this year.
We sure do have some dumb ass people.
Good Lord.
Great! First the toilet paper mafia, then anti-vaxxers, and now gas ⛽️ hoarders. Why is it always the United States?
You people are not making it easy for me to be nice. Idiots.
Surely it’s just dynamic Darwinism?
These are your viewers
…it makes me sad that this actually needed to be said…
It's like nobody learns. STOP BUYING IN EXCESS DURING A SHORTAGE.
Wow, the reactions to this story are a cornucopia of everyone’s internalised prejudices.
You can’t make up the sheer stupidity of these buffoons
County of idiots!!
Proof that majority of Americans are pretty stupid if they have to be warned about putting gasoline in plastic bags. GasShortage2021
Hoarding gas is stupid. This pipeline issue is not the end of the world but it seems we have become so paranoid and everything seems to be a crisis.
CRAZY
Craziness! If people would top off their vehicles/equipment and the 1-2 fuel cans they would normally fill per month to operate lawnmowers, chainsaws, weed eaters … THERE WOULD BE NO FUEL SHORTAGE NOR PRICE GOUGING.
Why not? Then smoke lots of cigarettes on the way home. It's all good 👍.
'The US Consumer Product Safety Commission warned Americans Wednesday not to fill plastic bags with gasoline' The mere fact that they felt they had to or had the basis for, issuing this warning might explain a lot of things...
I worked at a SOHIO station and once had to tell someone they couldn't take gas home in an empty glass wine jug.
All this just proves that no one cares for the next person. Which hopefully u already knew that.
Are people really that stupid
And yet they are.
