The Justice Department said President Trump had acted in his official capacity when denying a rape claim made by a longtime magazine columnist, and therefore shouldn't be sued personally for defamation

In a court filing, lawyers for the department told the court that"the President addressed matters relating to his fitness for office as part of an official White House response to press inquiries.""As stated in the complaint," they wrote,"'he rape of a woman is a violent crime,' ... and, if believed, even false allegations that the President committed such a crime could obviously impact the President's ability to effectively govern.

In their filing Monday, they asserted that the standard for determining whether the department should be allowed to intervene isn't whether"as plaintiff argues, 'slander' or 'defamation' is part of a Federal elected official's 'job description.' It is whether the official was acting within the scope of employment—e.g., making statements to the press while on duty responding to allegations of impropriety—when the alleged defamatory statement was made.

Trump mocks Biden for trusting scientists while Biden slams Trump for Covid-19 'lie'President Trump mocked Joe Biden on Sunday for trusting scientists about Covid-19 shortly after Biden lambasted the president for continuing to 'lie' about the state of the pandemic. The scientists, the CDC, the WHO, even Fauci have all flip flopped and changed position on covid 19 half a dozen times or more regarding masks, lock downs and therapeutics and those are the folks Biden trusts? Trump will go to jail after he loses! NYC and FBI for fraud and tax evasion and also a dozen women for sexual harassment/abuse law suits. Maybe he’ll figure out how to pardon himself and his kids? Too sad for history but he did it to himself.

They love to bring the hate Evil Don't amplify their stupidity/hate/crap by posting this as news. Jake Tapper should be ashamed for even having her on. I wouldn't put too much stock in Lara trump's 'he's just joking' defense of trump's incendiary remarks; after all, having married a trump puts her intelligence into question.
