And a medical student in Rhode Island has launched an effort to get emergency ballots into the hands of patients who find themselves unexpectedly in the hospital around Election Day. Alister Martin, an emergency room doctor at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, said he foundedto provide medical professionals voter registration resources after years of seeing patients struggling from the health consequences of poverty, drug addiction, homelessness and other social ills.
Jonathan Kusner, a Harvard Medical School student who co-chairs the effort, said students at dozens of institutions have expressed interest, with a number looking to host head-to-head voter registration competitions against rival schools.

Love it! Everyone that can vote should be registered and should vote! Politics is not something you can choose to not be a part of anymore. It's in your everyday life, now more so than ever. And at the very least anyone who is eligible to vote should have that registry.

i'm all for getting more people to register to vote, but doctors should just be treating patients. they have enough to deal with without adding to it. plus this might discourage people from going to the doctors or the hospital, something that's already a problem.
