swill offer forecasts of wait times for various attractions at the theme park, much like the previous iteration of the Disneyland app. Disneyland officials say it is much like a navigation app on smart phones that helps motorists avoid traffic jams. It also provides recommendations based on user preferences.

The basic functionality, which also allows people to make dining reservations or place mobile food orders, is free. However, for an extra $20 per park ticket, visitors can get the Genie+ service, which adds access to the “Lightning Lane” for one attraction at a time. The service, similar to Fastpass, will be available for popular rides such as Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, the Haunted Mansion or the newly reopened, holiday-themed It’s a Small World.

The Genie+ app will also include the unlimited photo downloads and other “audio experiences and photo features.”It is separate and apart from Disney’s newDiscover Disney Genie service, a great new offering designed to make planning your best Disney day at

Disney has become too much trouble. I purchased an annual pass to UniStudios Hollywood instead. No reservations, 5 black out dates, free parking, City Walk is way better than downtown Disney, Universal has the Grinch and Harry Potter that the kids adore. It's been great!

I really loved how carefree its been at Disneyland without any Fastpass/Genie+ type system. Lines looked long, but at least MOVED. Now, the standby lines will be a crawl unless you want to give the Mouse $20 per person in your party.
