The Walt Disney Company reminded consumers who are subscribed to Disney+ that the service will begin increasing its monthly price soon.

The company issued an email that the price hike will take place on Oct. 12, raising the price of the streaming service's premium plan to $13.99 per month. Currently, Disney+'s monthly fee for its premium plan is $10.99, or $109.99 per year. The platform's ad-supported plan will be unaffected by this price hike, and it will keep its current price of $7.99 per month.

Disney announced the price hike in August, leading to almost 8 million people unsubscribing from the platform in the company's last quarter. There were 146.1 million total Disney+ subscribers, according to the company's third quarter report, which was a 7.4% decrease from the quarter before. The company has undergone multiple financial woes over the past few months, with two of its most recent movies, Haunted Mansion and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, greatly underperforming at the box office. Its two theme parks in the United States, Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California, have both reported declining attendance over the past few months.Gov.

In February, Disney announced it would lay off 7,000 of its employees in a $5.5 billion effort in cost savings, which represented roughly 3% of Disney's 220,000 global employees.
