customers being unable to log in to the service, access specific content, or use certain streaming devices — while some who called Disney’s customer service line for help were left on hold for an hour or more.
A streaming service like Disney Plus has multiple moving parts, and any one of them can become a choke point. Industry sources toldthat the Disney Plus problems are not related to the video-streaming infrastructure, which Disney is handing off to content-delivery network providers like Akamai Technologies.
Disney could have designed Disney Plus to accommodate peak demand well over the number of projected Day One users, but that probably wouldn’t have been as cost-effective as fixing problems on the fly, Schlossnagle added. “You can design for the whole world to show up but unless it’s a one-day event like the Super Bowl, at a certain point you get diminishing returns,” he said. “They probably made wise investment choices.
Nevertheless, Disney compounded the technical problems by evidently being woefully unprepared to handle the calls from frustrated Disney Plus users — and then issuing the statement that high demand caused the issues in the first place. “It’s not an excuse to say, ‘Too many people tried to access the service.’ That’s bullshit PR,” said Abinash Tripathy, founder of Helpshift, a San Francisco-based customer-service platform startup. “The reality is their technology is probably poorly implemented.
This idiotic tweet didn't age well. 10 million subscribers sure hide that black eye well.

And, actually, despite what “an analyst” sniffs, starting snafus tell fans that a streaming service is a literally overwhelming success. Nice contrived controversy and artificial argument Variety.
How does the”analyst’s” eyes look? Green with envy?

Every streaming service has issues the day they launch.
Considering the massive undertaking of releasing this new service, I’d argue that despite the glitches, they did a decent job with the roll out.
Everyone on Twitter seems to be talking about Disney’s deep content library so I think you went with the wrong lede on this one
No problems here, enjoying the Mandolorian and the classic movies.
Comcast still got the 1tb data cap which hurts streaming services big time.

My service worked just fine besides one little buffering moment. People need to chill out and realize these things don’t start off perfect. Even Disneyland opened with major problems!
Google news reports the day after Disneyland opened. Disneyland is still there.
black eye? What kind of trash article did you write? I won’t be tricked into your clickbait. The launch went pretty well considering the demand for it. DisneyPlus
40 mins of TheMandalorian was worth the $70.
