There are now reportedly nearly 2 million signatures on the petition to remove Gavin Newsom from office.
The California Governor is already full-steam ahead in his campaign to beat the effort and keep his job. Newsom has a lot of advantages: Executive orders, the bully pulpit, close friends in the White House, no clear challenger and, of course, great hair. But Newsom also has a knack for making complex situations impenetrable. Lack of clear communication sews distrust. His attempts to combat Covid are no exception.
It never was about Covid or deaths.
Newsom is the functional equivalent of Cuomo - it seems like everyone dislikes him. I would expect CA GOP to hate him, the GOP in CA is kinda out there. But he's managed to p!$$ everyone off - by signing AB5 which killed jobs here to inequitable vaccine distribution.
