A lot of people who ignored recommendations not to travel for Thanksgiving will be giving less thanks when they start losing family and friends to the coronavirus. There are consequences for ignorance and selfishness.
People are social animals. It's hardwired into who we are. Isolation is hard on the mental health. The enshrined scientists need to figure out how to work with that, not against it.

I like holidays and family as much as the next person, but missing one doesn't affect my happiness one way or another.
Americans are out traveling in general more than ever. Since they are remote including their kids, they can Zoom in from anywhere. Camp sites and hotels are booked up. Traffic is ridiculous.

I was pretty disappointed to see some old friends traveled over Thanksgiving. Compounding the problem, many colleges planned to send students home for Thanksgiving and end in-person instruction for the semester.

The pushback started when state/local government’s saw the need to close every mom and pop store, but felt Walmart was essential. Then said your church must close while saying thousands of protesters posed no threat. Mismanaged the message from day one.

My grand daughter came home today and told me her friend’s since the fifth grade father died of Covid yesterday. One of the kids got it at school and they passed it around the family eventually killing dad. I can not imagine the guilt that must be wracking that family.

Immense, avoidable tragedy. The decision to not reschedule this particular gathering may very well prevent complete family gatherings from ever occurring again for many families. I wish that we had a government capable of upholding its oath of service to the American people.
