Political pressure from White House and series of “crazy in the middle of the night” texts, emails, phone calls caused weather officials to wrongly admonish a weather office for a tweet that contradicted Pres. Trump about Hurricane Dorian, IG report finds.

By the time the two tweets were posted, Alabama was no longer in the hurricane center’s warning cone, although it had been in previous days. One hurricane center graphic at the time showed a “non-zero” chance of tropical storm force winds for a tiny corner of Alabama, something NOAA officials later scurried to highlight, according to the report.

Four days after the tweets, then acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney sent Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross an email after 9 p.m., saying “it appears as if the NWS intentionally contradicted the president. And we need to know why. He wants either a correction or an explanation or both.” The eventual unsigned statement from NOAA said: “The Birmingham National Weather Service’s Sunday morning tweet spoke in absolute terms that were inconsistent with probabilities from the best forecast products available at the time.”and had no major impact on Alabama, which is about 600 miles away.

Trump is the smartest, smarter than all the generals and scientists and meteorologists so if he says they're wrong, everyone had better agree or face having funds cut off from their dept or getting fired. Truth doesn't matter. impotus45

Now the Weather Channel is supposed to lie for dtrump? No!!!

Uh oh! Looks like another IG will be biting the dust for telling the truth.

I was worried there for a minute when I saw 'Sharpie' trending. It doesn't bode well for those of 'US' weathering this storm right now, it's a doozy. Who knows what travesty he'd send our way. You certainly got the 'crazy' part right.

‘That’s Crazy’: Re-Opening Schools is Possible, but We’re Doing It WrongThere’s a right way to reopen America’s schools. It requires a clear-eyed look at the data. It demands a balanced discussion of the benefits and costs — to students, parents and educators. And it looks very little like the path America is on I love Emily Oster voice even though I’m only reading it. Intelligent person, without question. Why is this coming from an economist who also wrote “data-driven” books on parenting and pregnancy? This background is a recipe for a biased and inappropriate take on the reopening of schools.

Govt Watchdog: Politics caused 'Sharpiegate' frantic rebukeHigh-ranking political pressure, “crazy middle of the night” texts, emails and calls triggered NOAA’s rebuke of its forecasters as Hurricane Dorian approached, undermining public trust in weather warnings, inspector general says. “Agency officials downplayed and disputed the findings.” fakenews 9/6/19: 'Three-day projections are more accurate, since they don’t look as far forward. As you can see, there was no projected overlap with Alabama three days out.' Because he wants to control everything, even the weather. He’s a god in orange paint. 😡
