Connecticut lawmaker resigns, citing bitter divorce battle with Morgan Stanley executive.

State Sen. Alex Kasser, D-Greenwich, looks up at the tally board as votes come in during special session at the State Capitol on July 28, 2020, in Hartford, Conn.WASHINGTON — A Connecticut state senator announced her resignation Tuesday and attributed her decision to a lengthy, bitter divorce battle with her husband, an executive at Morgan Stanley.

Bergstein is the managing director and head of the global services group in investment banking at Morgan Stanley. “It is too painful to be in Greenwich now that I’ve been erased from their lives, just as their father promised would happen if I ever left him,” she wrote. “My partner, Nichola Samponaro, also grew up in Greenwich and her family have been respected members of this community for over 40 years.”Last fall, Kasser said inthat she told Bergstein ten years earlier that she was gay and asked for a divorce.

Epic fail, NBCNEWS. You didn't ID this lawmaker's PARTY, for God's sake. Flunked reporting (and editing) 101?

Seems like Seth Bergstein blackmailing a State Legislator out of office has to be a crime. KatieHill4CA please talk her out of resigning.

Senate set to take showdown vote in bitter battle over voting rightsThe Senate is set to take a showdown procedural vote Tuesday on a sweeping voting rights bill in the wake of the disputed 2020 election -- a top priority for congressional Democrats and President Joe Biden -- but it appears Republicans will succeed in blocking the For the People Act from moving forward. Despite Democrats not having the 60 votes necessary to overcome a GOP filibuster in order to open debate on the revised version of the S.1 elections reform bill, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said he's holding the vote, so even if it fails as expected, it will show Americans that congressional Republicans are actively making it harder for people to vote.
