“The importance of this bill cannot be overstated,'' said Rush, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus. ”From Charlottesville to El Paso, we are still being confronted with the same violent racism and hatred that took the life of Emmett and so many others. The passage of this bill will send a strong and clear message to the nation that we will not tolerate this bigotry."
Democratic Rep. Karen Bass of California, who chairs the Congressional Black Caucus, called lynching a lasting legacy of slavery. Democratic Sens. Kamala Harris of California and Cory Booker of New Jersey applauded House passage of the bill, which they co-sponsored in the Senate along with Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C. The three are the Senate's only black members.
Just in time to curry the black vote. So. Does this mean police officers will finally be charged as the murderous lynchers we know them to be?
This is a show and nothing more it is already illegal it called murder
We have a national lynching problem?
Wowzer ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY YEARS 😳🤔
Lynching is Murder. Murder is a crime. This is not a needed law.
Unacceptable
But murdering infants that survived an abortion is still okey doke. Keep blazing those trails worsecongressever
Until trump vetoes it
Well, when politicians refuse to work together on ANYTHING, it's no big shock that it took more than a century to actually get this passed.
Vote to make attacking Trump supporters a crime and then I'll be impressed !
Pretty sure murder was always a crime
What a colossal waste of time & taxpayer money for these fools to be sitting around discussing & debating this subject. As if this is a serious problem that keep members of the black community up at night. Isn't murder a serious enough crime. It has to be ascended to higher level
What chance this goes to top of McConnell's list of bills the Senate must pass?
Oh look, Democrats trying to stir up racial animosity, for no reason, during an election year again.
4 assholes who voted against: Ted Yoho of Florida, Louie Gohmert of Texas, Thomas Massie of Kentucky, and Justin Amash of Michigan.
Stupidest thing ever. Why are the Dems not doing real stuff
They got distracted
Federal Hate crime - was it not made a federal crime a few yrs back?
“Socialism is the philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy. The inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.” -Winston Churchill
Awesome! They voted to make murder illegal. It’s about time.
and justinamash voted against it ... why?
I want to know the 4 cowards that voted against it
So it took 65 years to pass this Why because their not to many black getting lunch knows days .. sickening
had no ideal it was legal to lynch someone till this bill passed.
Nice
Unbelievable that a so called civilized society is just now getting to this much less the idea of it being a thing to begin with.
I'm happy but also sad because why did it take so long?! That little boy did not deserve to die. Besides that women is ugly inside and out. Sorry not sorry.
Just in time.....to be completely pointless.
Of course, McConnell will let it die in the Senate.
thehonorablecsc Fishing in the rain should be a hate crime.
How long before Trump and the GOP revokes it?
I thought it was. Does that include when people like Smollett fake it?
On to Mitch's pile of inbox bills from the House.
Seriously? We have a problem with lynching? That's what they're working on? Nothing more pressing?
....lynching wasn't already a hate crime?
👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍
I am just astounded that it wasn't already a federal crime.
Good job but how many lynchings have there been in the past 30 years? I think zero...but hey good job.
I'm dumbfounded as to why no one in congress passed this while Obama was in office. But now it is passed and MSM and Democrats linking it to a man of color.
Murder or attempted murder already a felony. Idiots in congress.
At a snails pace seriously
I’d like to know who the 4 were that voted against it
❤️
Thanks so much what a nice way to end the day I've reported it before when I've seen it what a way to think of remembrance of mr till on this day in african American history month
So lynching is still legal?
We appreciate the Congressional Black Caucus' actions on the anti-lynching bill. We now need a bill that stops the import of heroin and fentanyl into Black population clusters and on police shooting and killing unarmed Black men.
What’s a Trump supporter supposed to do on a Saturday night now?!?
What's f'd up about this is that it actually has to be a law. I mean are there laws against lynching people other than POC? Think about that!
