He knows it will take time to correct what some believe are systemic leadership failures at the base, and that some units will respond more quickly than others. White agrees that he and other commanders bear some responsibility for the problems.
Senior Army leaders have made clear that changes must be made at the base, where many have complained about a command culture that failed to address persistent problems, including sexual assaults and suicides. White acknowledges that communications with commanders back at Fort Hood were spotty when he was in Iraq. “We tried, once a week,” he said, in his first extensive remarks since returning to Texas. “Sometimes that worked and sometimes it did not.” He added that if he had been in Texas rather than Iraq, “I do things differently than other commanders do things, and so maybe I would have self-discovered some of these challenges.
Jail time
This is what happens when they police their own- there is no justice
Instead of killing people half way around the world, the Army must clean house here in the USA.
Say what?! Like it's a fucking city, highest crime rate. Yall need to dismantle that shit and move.
When you have a CIC who pardons people convicted of war crimes and has numerous sexual assault allegations pending against him, why would anyone be surprised by what's happening at Ft. Hood? Without any moral leadership at the top, it's hard to keep order in the ranks.
General, you are politically correct, you are not going to a damn thing ! One criminal crybaby screams racist, rebuilding over !
forthood come to serve. Stay to get raped or murdered.
The Army needs to require a minimum IQ of 120 to join! That will dwindle it down to about 6 to 7 soldiers 👏🏽😁
Sounds like there is no law on military bases not just Ft Hood! what’s the murder, suicide, rape and harassment rates at every military base?
Close Fort Hood! Open it back up as a haunted house.
Here’s a suggestion, close the base and divide its soldiers among the dozens of other bases we have. Ft. Hood is in one of the worst hellholes in Texas.
Public records, troop statistics as well as death or injuries to ALL civilians near ANY infrastructure camp is public and we need to know stats. Video games like call of duty exploit hunting instincts which are stronger than the discipline to engage in war civilly.
Would that be in Texas...?
It is a reflection of kind of individuals the army recruits and/or builds them into. If they can do these to their own country men and women, just imagine what they are capable of doing to civilians in conflict zones. Unless everyone is held accountable, the culture wont change.
“One of the highest rates of murder” in the army
I'm sorry, but the phrase 'one of the highest rates of murder...' should not exist when talking about military facilities. WTF?
Maybe if the Military would stop acting like this the USA wouldn’t have lost every war we have fought since WW2
Shameful! Better get hot, General. Discipline and tough training are much needed. Sounds like these Soldiers have too much idle time.
Trumps America
Not to mention the whole being named after an insurrectionist thing.
So these soldiers signed up to kill others, but they walked into the murder house?
