Richard Holzer -- who self-identifies as a neo-Nazi and White supremacist, according to the Justice Department -- pleaded guilty last October to federal hate crime and explosive charges for planning to blow up the historic synagogue, the second-oldest in the state. The 28-year-old was arrested in November 2019 following an FBI investigation in which he told undercover agents he wanted to"get that place off the map," the Justice Department said in a news release Friday. He described himself as a skinhead, it said, and shared pictures of himself with other social media users with guns and knives alongside White supremacist symbols. In one Facebook post, according to prosecutors, Holzer wrote,"I wish the Holocaust really did happen ... they need to die." Undercover agents approached him online soon after the tip and interacted with him as he plotted the attack, authorities said.
