Chris Hemsworth has divulged whether he wants to return to the MCU after Thor: Love and Thunder. Love and Thunder is the fourth solo film to feature the Asgardian hero Thor, the God of Thunder. It is the second film in the series to be directed by Taika Waititi after 2017's Thor: Ragnarok, who will also be returning as the voice of the CG character Korg. The film will also see the return of Thor's love interest Jane Foster, the astrophysicist played by Natalie Portman.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY In addition to his three extant solo films , Hemsworth has reprised the role in several Marvel crossover films since his debut in 2011. In addition to his appearances in the four Avengers films, he has voiced the character on two episodes of the Disney+ animated series What If...?.
I love it, I love it. I'll come back for more and more until someone kicks me off the stage, you know. I love it. My whole career has been based around me playing this character and to come back again and again and play it with different directors and different casts has been an absolute joy. And, yeah, we'll see what the fans want, and I don't know, I'm down for whatever is enjoyable and having a good time.
While this isn't an official confirmation that he will be returning for more MCU films, it seems unlikely that the company would let him fall by the wayside if he's so eager to return. Assuming he does continue his tenure as Thor beyond Love and Thunder, that will make him one of the only original Avengers still remaining. Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans are both done with the franchise and their characters have received canonical endings.
It's certainly true that Hemsworth's particular role in the MCU has allowed him to experience many different types of filmmakers and tones.
Didn’t he say he wants to leave before someone tells him to go?
