Two new Chinese car brands have confirmed launches in the UK for later this year, with one destined to clinch the title of cheapest electric SUV. IA , the company that imports DFSK vans into the country, will bring in the Seres and Skywell brands to our shores as it attempts to crack the mainstream UK new car market. Seres - a chinese car company with headquarters in California - will bring its 3 electric car to the UK in May.
Managing Director of IA, Samir Hmicho, told Autocar: "The cars are ready to go, homologated to the UK specification. There's no point wasting time and waiting around for the competition. We're aiming for around 1,000 sales for each brand in the first year." The Seres 3 is a Qashqai-sized SUV with a 54kWh battery and an official range of 205 miles. Its 161bhp electric motor powers the front wheels.
