A woman wearing takes photos near the logos for the Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics in Beijing, China, Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2021. China on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021 accused the United States of violating the Olympic spirit by announcing an American diplomatic boycott of February's Beijing Winter Games.

As he did the previous day, Zhao vowed that China would respond with “resolute countermeasures” but offered no details. His comments came amid a barrage of Chinese criticism of the announcement by the Biden administration on Monday.White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters on Monday that the administration will fully support U.S. athletes competing at the games but won’t dispatch U.S. diplomats or officials to attend.

Zhao called on the U.S. to “stop politicizing sports” and what he said were actions undermining the Beijing Winter Olympics, “otherwise it will undermine the dialogue and cooperation between the two countries in a series of important areas and international issues.” “Some Western anti-China politicians” have shown a “defensive Cold War mentality aimed at politicizing sport,” the article said, calling that a “clear violation of the Olympic spirit and a challenge to all people who love the Olympic movement.”

“In any case, Japan hopes that the Beijing Winter Games will be held as a celebration of peace in line with the principles of the Olympic and Paralympic Games,” Matsuno said.

Basically a big nothingburger.

Hey, Hey, heyyyyyy! China Don’t Care!!!!!!😆

I say we just get it over with and get ‘em up! 🥊

China should be stripped from hosting the Olympics. Their secrecy with the origins of Covid sent the world into madness

What is the penalty for violating the Olympic Spirit? They gonna take away past gold medals?

China’s mad they can’t do harm to the diplomats? Then try to stop them from leaving by arresting them on false charges.

USA bombs & destroys many countries this century vs China did nothing wrong. Zero proof of genocide, tennis player going missing(its actually the opposite she is not missing or detained) or social credit score.

I am still waiting for global countries to hold China accountable for the destruction COVID has caused our lives and world. When will that happen?

The truth is NONE of U.S. diplomats or officials was invited to China for the BJ winter games...🤣

Did the U.S. ever close Guantanamo Bay

lol didn’t they get caught running a systematic doping regime at the olympics under the direction of the state for like 20 years

So does cheating, terrorism, and genocide. BoycottChina BoycottBeijingOlympics BoycottBeijing2022 UyghurLivesMatter

Hey, you know what else violates the Olympic Spirit? Invading a Sovereign Nation and taking it over. Imprisoning people because of their religion. Ethnic cleansing. All very much the opposite of the Olympic spirit.

Meanwhile China’s incarceration of the Uyghurs is not in the spirit of human decency.

Chinese Spirit of Assassination

I didn’t think this was the first time for a country to do this.

Does China have any of the said Olympic spirit? A country that does not respect the basic human rights of athletes (e.g. the silencing of Peng Shuai) and the Uyghur people (forced detention and labor) is not one to lecture others about the Olympic spirit.
