A recent decision by officials to close a tiny museum in Hong Kong dedicated to Tiananmen Square suggests the Communist Party's leadership of museums may be spreading into new territory

China is building museums at a frenetic pace. In 2000 it had fewer than 1,200 of them. By the end of last year there were nearly five times as many. Helped by a decision in 2008 to allow free entry to most government-run ones, visits have also soared. By the end of 2019 the annual number had increased more than fourfold, to 1.2bn. There was a huge drop last year because of the pandemic, but new museums still opened at a rate of nearly five a week .

But Chinese museums must be mindful of the Communist Party’s wishes. The plan for 2035 says the party must exercise “all-round leadership of museum development”. The document’s list of worthy themes for exhibits includes the Belt and Road Initiative—a global infrastructure-building project launched by China’s leader, Xi Jinping—as well as more universally acknowledged engineering marvels such as the Great Wall and the Grand Canal.

Foolish thought and sentiment. As usual -- truly CCP and Xi Pingpong style.

Chinamission2un ChineseEmbinUS hkfp After Mao destroyed all culture and heritage in the 'revolution'? lol .. sure - Btw, China - please do it. This is how doors to freedom and democracy get opened. Probably someday CCP & Xi Pingpong will realise why MAO did what he did.

China has prospered and become powerful. The world must give it respect and be cautious.

There’s no “power” in museums. They are for everyone, regardless of where they are. Humanity owns all of the museums, not countries. This statement proves that China still has a long way to go.

It was a nightmare, I pissed on my paint, shocked, it was the first time I see my sister, I thought I was dead on a toilet, then they gave us money. I was questioned again when we back to Taipei. Police didn’t arrest anyone, it was a nightmare.

I was almost dead when I first travel in China to see my sisters with my old father in 2006 when I graduated from NTU, I was bleeding a lot in hotel, painful shitting, vomiting in WC, and questioned by a lady, I was send to clinic until morning, I thought I was died on a toilet.

Sebastian Gorka claims Biden helping China 'displace' U.S., credits Beijing for 'China first' policyGorka mocked the 2016 Paris Climate Agreement and said the U.S. carries the financial and economic burden of the world while allowing China to become a stronger international superpower. It should come as no surprise to SebGorka that the Liberalization of China was planned. The founding members of the Mont Pelerin Project knew that liberal reforms along with globalization would lead to the reconfiguration of the Chinese & U.S. economies thus creating fortunes. Mr. SebGorka should know that the concept of a China first policy started in 1978 when China opened its economy to f. investors. Since then American & European oligarch's armed with economic theories derived from the Mont Pelerin Project est. a China first policy that remains. I'm shocked that SebGorka or seanhannity haven't blamed President JimmyCarterNPS for not being tough enough on China during his term. The calculus is not that hard. Capitalism went into crisis because of the attacks on organized labor by U.S oligarchs who like unchecked power.
