New survey findings show that China has become the preferred choice over the U.S. in the ongoing U.S.-China conflict in the Southeast Asia region. This is the first time Beijing has surpassed Washington since 2020. The survey reveals that a majority of Southeast Asians would align with China if forced to pick sides, although some countries still prefer the U.S. due to concerns over Beijing's South China Sea claims. The survey was conducted by ASEAN Studies Centre at ISEAS–Yusof Ishak Institute.
