The sticker shock and staggering costs of childbirth can really hurt a family’s wallet, many doctors and experts say.

The 26-year-old Dayton resident said she was billed $127,308 for her hospital costs and $121,390 for her newborn son’s stay in the neonatal intensive care unit.Arnold’s due date was Dec. 12, but her water broke almost 11 weeks early, on Sept. 29.

She had health insurance through her husband’s job, so their out-of-pocket costs ended up being $3,000 – $1,500 for her medical services and $1,500 for her son’s. The average out-of-pocket costs of childbirth and maternal care among women with employer health insurance increased 49%, from $3,069 to $4,569 from 2008 to 2015, the latest year for which statistics were available, according to a study published. megankhenry This article is not as simple as it sounds. Go into a neonatal unit and calculate the costs associated with saving the lives of these children. And no one mentioned that we save more of the neonates than even 6 years ago due to the technology that someone has to pay for.

megankhenry Try $1.3 million billed for momotwins. We hit our max out of pocket but 41 days in the hospital adds up fast when it’s x2

megankhenry Really? 30 days of obstetric care plus major surgery and 17 days intensive care? Birth involves a team of nurses and doctors, and others. Should they not be paid? How much does running ORs and intensive care units cost?

megankhenry Obamacare is not your friend.

Not if your an illegal then it’s free!

stop having babies,so you can spend your money on booze and sex toys

REFUSE the hearing test that seems demanded by hospital staff. That test costs most people $1,000 and would cost just a copay if done at an ENT doctors office. If anything, this test should be part of the infant exam at the doctors’ office.

Now you know why US birthrate is low.

This is on the failed obama admin for doing nothing on the subject matter during his 8!years
