“It’s going to be like the Watts riots,” one witness said. “I wasn’t really alive for it, but I was alive for this one. I’ll tell my kids and family members what happened.”
Entirely new people — young men and women — who he said were not at the demonstrations were spilling out of cars along Fairfax,A procession of cars, SUVs and pickups pulled up in front of the MelroseMac store at 6614 Melrose Ave. and disgorged drivers and passengers around midnight. With no police in sight, looters scrambled empty-handed into the store through shattered windows and emerged moments later with what appeared to be boxes of computers.“It was like a McDonald’s drive-through outside the Mac store, where cars were pulling up and others were throwing in looted goods and driving off,” Los Angeles City Councilman Paul Koretz told KTLA-TV Channel 5 Sunday morning.“They were in a line, one by one,” he said. “It was something the likes of which I’ve never seen anywhere.
Harrison said that the looters were of every race and ethnicity, but in the end, their actions were only going to reinforce negative stereotypes.
Two democratic-run cities and states. You get what you deserve.
i’m paying for a subscription for this?
Violence is for the weak. Praying is for the Strong.
This Los Angeles resident was shocked when Chicago mayor RahmEmanuel helped cover up the police murder of Laquan McDonald. What’s your point? Stop with all these tweets about property damage.
Not surprised.. they’re just a bunch of carpetbaggers. Go back to Chicago!
I don’t know why, Chicago’s racism and police brutality is world known,
This man never took the knee. Just sayin.
Wow, really disappointed in this coverage.
Technically, California gives you 10 days to transfer your ID there after moving to the state, but I think I probably just waited until mine was ready to expire before transferring too.
Is this some kind of joke article
😐 US natives shocked by violence towards peaceful protestors across the United States
👀 I kinda think the Watts riots were publicized. As were the Rodney King riots. Before my time there were the Zoot Suit riots in the 1940s. This is not new to Los Angeles.
I strongly condemn the violence, looting & burning associated with the staggered protests across the states. Hooligans on the prowl
Lol... if they are then not lived there in many years. Killings every day!
I'm sorry, did the LA Times interview 13 million people and run out of LA voices? Does Chicago not have a problem with police violence? What on Earth is the point of this article.
Good thing they live in Chicago, where there is hardly any violence.
The real, but 'legal' looters...
They have the best stores ... but sure GeorgeFloyd ... these criminals have stained his memory & this important cause for change. Want better - be better.
