Former Minneapolis police Officer Derek Chauvin is set to learn his fate Friday as a Minnesota judge sentences him for murder in the death of George Floyd. Several legal experts are predicting a sentence of 20 to 25 years.

Judge Peter Cahill could impose without risk of being overturned on appeal.

Attorneys on both sides are expected to make brief arguments Friday, and victims or family members of victims can make statements. No family members have said publicly that they will speak. Several experts said they doubted Chauvin would take the risk and speak, but Brandt thought he would. He said Chauvin could say a few words without getting himself into legal trouble.

Thirty years “doesn’t seem like long enough to me,” said Andrew Harer, a retail worker who is white. “I would be fine if he was in jail for the rest of his life.” No matter what sentence Chauvin gets, he’s likely to serve only about two-thirds behind bars presuming good behavior. The rest would be on supervised release.

MarkDavis He should get a new trial for jury misconduct and intimidation at the very least.

A very special congratulations to George Floyd on one year of sobriety!

Down here in South Georgia no one gives a fuck

Why is that portrait of Floyed used? I feel sorry for those that had to make it.

Snu snu. First by the most attractive inmates, then the large inmates, then the petite inmates.....

Chauvin was innocent

I hope he gets 15 months probation and loses his job!

Is it televised? What time is the sentencing?

Put him under the jail.

He deserves more, 40-60

Smoking that Chauvin pack.

It’s Convicted murderer Derek Chauvin.

thepn_org I hope it is lengthy enough to shake out the racism in him. I hope it’s long enough to count the time it took to kill George Floyd without a watch. To realize, how precious life is and above all, what it means to have guilt as your only companion 24 hours of the day every day

🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌

I better see 30 minimum because he will get out in 20 then with good behavior and I will be at least somewhat content with him staying behind bars till 65.... somewhat

unlike Floyd, he’ll live

thanks

Here’s what to know ahead of the hearing. Chauvin should get the maximum sentence. The judge has an imperative to make an example of him to deter other cops from abusing their power when dealing with civilians... Hes guilty, but under no circumstances do I advocate for the death penalty. I would even consider this is a murder where parole should be reasonably considered after time served, assuming the guilty party demonstrates change. zunran There can be NO compromises by the judge when sentencing Chauvin for the murder of GeorgeFloyd! Chauvin didn’t give Floyd’s life a second thought even while children were standing by & watching! 30 years without any chance of an early parole is the right thing to do!

A look at high-profile cases over killings by US policeDerek Chauvin faces sentencing Friday in the death of George Floyd. It is rare that police are charged with crimes in the deaths of civilians, and rarer still that they are convicted. Here’s a look at the outcomes of other high-profile cases. Millions of people are praying for Derek Chauvin. Media & black community have their own agenda. May God block them in the name of Divine justice. He was a drug addicted criminal. Chauvin needs to be fired for so many violations but he should be let go with time served. He rid the streets of a dangerous criminal. Its a draw. Couple of months ago I came across a recommendation about kimberlyalr88 wealth how he helped investors to earn lots of money with their investments. and I decided to give a trial with the little I have. Now my little has turned into something great which was not my expectation
