A family’s beloved dog taken at gunpoint during a weekend walk has spurred an investigation by Alameda County sheriff’s deputies, authorities said.

posted to social media, the sheriff’s office said a woman and her adult daughter were walking Tito, a French bulldog, along Norbridge Road around 5:30 p.m. Saturday when a black 2019 Kia sport-utility vehicle pulled up in front of them.

While one suspect took a purse that held the woman’s wallet and home and car keys, another snatched Tito from the daughter. The suspects then ran back to the SUV and drove off westward along Norbridge. After deputies learned of the theft and canvassed the neighborhood, they found some surveillance-camera footage, and later learned that the Kia had been reported stolen by Oakland police and used in several prior armed robberies.

Letter: The inequities of westside vs. eastside in the Salt Lake Valley mapped in snowIn a recent snowstorm, I dropped off my car for detailing just west of Interstate 15 in Murray. As I walked to the Meadowbrook TRAX station to head home, 500 West challenged me with an obstacle course of rippled ice and frozen heaps of snow left by the plows. An occasional short stretch of shoveled drive or sidewalk gave me a breather as I skirted traffic at the edge of the pavement on my way north to 3900 South. I stepped off the road and into the drifts to dodge passing cars. The inequalities of the west side versus the east side would be even worse if the National Guard prevented the unvaccinated to leave their homes. There are far more unvaccinated on the west side then the east side. Racist Trib...
