The social satire from 'The Square' director Ruben Östlund is among the titles competing for this year's Palme d'Or.

The movie, starring Harris Dickinson, Charlbi Dean and, earned a standing ovation that lasted 7-plus minutes, with one of the biggest cheers for actress Dolly De Leon.

Dickinson and Dean star as a fashion model/influencer couple who, after a disaster on a luxury cruise, are left stranded on a desert island with a group of billionaires and a cleaning lady. In the fight for survival, social and financial hierarchies are turned upside down. Harrelson stars as the ship’s captain.

The film is vying for the Palme d’Or at this year’s 75th edition of the festival, just like the 20 other titles in the competition lineup. It

It isn’t Cannes without at least fifty stories recounting the length of a standing ovation.

Much was made about TopGunMaverick 5 minute standing ovation a few days ago at Cannes but as many films since have had longer standing ovations it shows that Top Gun 2 ovation was nothing special and could be seen as a condescending to Tom Cruise being shorter
