The quick success of dizzytheband may have to do with the fact they have been together for a long time — two of them met in high school, while the others are siblings. The group talks close ties and new album, 'The Sun and Her Scorch.' 👇

Last year, the Canadian band Dizzy took home the Juno award for alternative album of the year for its debut album,. That quick success probably has something to do with the fact that they've been together for a long time, and not just as a band.

Dizzy was formed by frontperson Katie Munshaw and Charlie Spencer after they met in high school, but its other members had known each other for much longer as siblings. Charlie's brothers, Alex and Mack, fill out the group on guitar and bass, respectively. Today, Katie and Charlie join me to talk about what it's like to play in an almost-family band and about the personal songwriting that fills Dizzy's sophomore album,.
