MADRID - British Brexit minister Stephen Barclay said on Thursday the so called backstop on the Irish border as part of a divorce deal with the European Union “has to go”, and that while his government wanted a deal, Britain may have to leave the European Union without one at the end of October. “The backstop will not be agreed with the United Kingdom and UK parliament has already rejected it three times,” Barclay said.
He was speaking in Madrid just six weeks before the date on which Prime Minister Boris Johnson has vowed to take Britain out of the European Union by Oct. 31 “do or die”, with or without a deal.
Scotland, N-Ireland, Wales and Gibraltar will remain in the EU. Only Little England will 'break free'. For a while..
Is Britain a country? Everyday days a school day
We’ve already said that
My left testicle has a higher IQ than Stephen Barclay.
😐
DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Brexit
No, you have to go.
Will somebody please tell Stephen Barclay that nobody cares about the backstop anymore. The DUP can't save you so why would you let them drag you under? BrexitChaos
wow... as its a recent discovery
Music to our collective ears. Use that £39b the EU are so obsessed with getting their hands on, to strengthen UK businesses and institutions. Let them (EU) spend their own money, however they like.
So he is in favour of the PM breaking the law?
And cause the following; the remaining 27 each only lose one export customer worth a fraction of their total EU exports, while we lose 27 valuable tariff & customs free export customers, worth over £265 billion, employing millions of people, so your one of the fifth-columnist😱
There is no such thing as a no-deal. If we agree to differ and can't reach an amicable solution, then the deal is the default deal, which is to agree to trade using WTO rules. That is a deal in itself.
I thought that was the plan? So the venture capitalists can collect their massive £8billion dividend for 'shorting' the pound. ToryVermin BrexitCorruption
Which would be against the law.
It's almost expected to happen at this rate anyway.
Excellent..... crack on. 👍🇬🇧
Again, no shit?
What Barclay means iis that the unelected UK government may chose to inflict a no deal on the world!
Good news.
