Brazil and Argentina are long rivals for soccer supremacy in South America, and Brazilians naturally think of their own Pelé as the best footballer ever. But they are putting aside the argument to mourn the death of Argentine superstar Diego Maradona.

Marcio Pereira, 57, who likes to go by the nickname "Pele" juggles a soccer ball next to a monument adorned with a national Argentine flag bearing the No. 10, placed there by a mourner as a tribute to Diego Maradona, outside the Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Thursday, Nov. 26, 2020. Maradona died on Wednesday at the age of 60 of a heart attack in a house outside Buenos Aires where he recovered from a brain operation.

“He was an example of persistence and perseverance because he grew in life as a human being,” said graffiti artist Angelo Campos, who painted an energic Maradona in a blue shirt under an inscription with his nickname, “El Pibe de Oro” . “He finished his life as a human being because he fought to overcome his problems.”

All top-tier Brazilian clubs paid tributes, including Santos, where Pelé played nearly all of his career. Maradona was a frequent visitor to Brazil’s Carnival festivities, made ads for local companies, and played a charity match in Rio de Janeiro organized by another soccer great, Zico.

Maradona is a true icon for the land of viveza criolla. The land of thieves. The Falklands have been British since 1765. No 'Hand of God' can change that reality.

The sports and entertainment industries have served as the perfect distraction for the masses while the ruling class robs them blind. Anyone & everyone part of either industry is complicit in the ongoing theft of common wealth. They are nothing to be celebrated.

You will be forever missed Diego.

1) Pelé 2) Maradona 3) Messi 4) Garrincha 5) Cruyff 👍👌
