What was it like to shop in person this Black Friday? “If you have one thing in mind, you go to that store and get in and out as fast as you can.”

By Sarah Nassauer and Suzanne Kapner; Photos by Evan Angelastro and Scott McIntyre for The Wall Street JournalFewer people visited U.S. stores on Black Friday as the coronavirus pandemic loomed over the annual shopping event. E-commerce sales jumped as many retailers put their Black Friday deals online and people shopped from home.

Roughly half as many people visited U.S. stores on Black Friday as they did last year, according to research firms that measure foot traffic. One of those firms, RetailNext, estimated that in-store spending fell 30% from last year. Black Friday online sales hit $9 billion, up 22% compared with last year, according to Adobe Analytics, which measures 80 of the top 100 U.S. e-commerce sites. It was the second best day for online shopping after Cyber Monday 2019 when sales hit $9.4 billion, according to Adobe.

"It’s more fun to go to the store, and they are sold out of a lot of things online," said Benjamin Toll, a 46-year-old psychiatrist who waited in a line with his son Dylan outside the Lululemon store in Westport, Conn., on Friday morning.

. Since so few people were in the stores, we browsed and found some great stuff.

I’d rather read a story about what it was like for retail workers to work Black Friday during a pandemic.

STUPID! STAY HOME. Shop online. It's sickening how people just can't sacrifice things that aren't essential. I stayed home and had a weird, depressing Thanksgiving while 6.8 million people got on airplanes, endangering the lives of many innocent people. STAY. HOME. StayHome

proving once again that the spread of the virus was indeed donald trump’s fault because it can’t possibly be the people’s fault

We Chinese all know the Covid-19 virus was intentional accidentally leaked on Sept 18, 2019 when the CCP did a drill to plant and detect the virus at the Wuhan Tianhe airport. The virus was made in a PLA lab. The truth about the pandemic the MSM and leftists keep hiding from you.

So much pathetic fear... How much closer to 100% does the CV19 recovery and survival rate for healthy people under the age of 65 need to get before we can stop pretending that catching it is tantamount to a death sentence?

anti-Marxismlist! On my opinion, the human society is running on these: 1 technology define theoretical economic aggregate 2 labour define gross economy 3 finance system define distribution of wealth from gross economy

I didn't shop lol

Most people were just shopping like normal but just with masks. Much harder as the weekend progressed getting people to wear masks. The heard mentality kept people compliant Black Friday.

It was nice. No one there and plenty of help if needed.
