is speaking about his HIV-positive status for the first time since being diagnosed fourteen years ago., revealing that he let the shame he felt around the illness control his life and silence him from 2007 until now. “For a long time, everybody who needed to know, knew—except for my mother,” Porter said. “I was trying to have a life and a career, and I wasn’t certain I could if the wrong people knew. It would just be another way for people to discriminate against me.
Porter went on to explain that thanks to the pandemic and the world slowing down over the last year, he’s had the time to reflect on the various unexamined traumas he’s experienced throughout his life. “There has never been a moment that I’ve not been in trauma, which is what I’ve discovered this last year,” he said. “And it was my engine for a very long time. My trauma served me, my story has served me, in terms of forward motion.
Thanks to that time of reflection, the actor has now come to terms with his diagnosis and is ready to move forward with his life free of shame. He told the publication, “I’m the healthiest I’ve been in my entire life. So it’s time to let all that go and tell a different story. There’s no more stigma—let’s be done with that. It’s time. I’ve been living it and being in the shame of it for long enough. And I’m sure this will follow me.
Following the publication of Porter’s story, GLAAD released a statement in support of the actor. “The tremendous levels of stigma facing people living with HIV today can only be broken by icons like Billy Porter showing the world that HIV is not at all a barrier to a healthy and successful life,”, Associate Director of Communities of Color at GLAAD said in the statement.

Oh dear... That man 🙄
Everybody doesn't need to know a person's personal business all the time just like no-one needs to know about another person's. Sexual preferences if anything it'll cause a person more harm then good especially in today's world.
