The withdrawal from Afghanistan is not conditions-based and will go forward despite the security situation in the country

President Joe Biden plans to withdraw all U.S. troops from Afghanistan by Sept. 11, 2021, missing the May 1 deadline he inherited from the Trump administration, according to two congressional aides and a senior administration official briefed on the plans.

NATO troops will withdraw from Afghanistan in the same time frame, the person noted, adding that the withdrawal is not conditions-based and will go forward despite the security situation in the country. If the Taliban renew attacks on American forces, "we will hit back hard and we will hold them accountable for that," the person said.

“I applaud President Biden for achieving an impossibility here in Washington: ending a forever war. It is an act of extraordinary political courage and vision,” said Rep. Ro Khanna , a longtime proponent of scaling back military deployments overseas. Biden administration and Pentagon officials have signaled for months that they will not meet the May 1 deadline to withdraw all American troops from Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, Gen. Frank McKenzie, head of U.S. Central Command, recently warned that if the American pullout goes ahead before diplomatic efforts between the Taliban and the Afghan government can yield a deal, fighting will intensify across the country.

Israel will make sure it never happens... they need them troops as a second front in their provocated war with Iran

Cut and run from what Obama once called the right war !

JeanetteKStone1 I don't understand why people are foaming at the mouth over this. The United States maintains global reach, whether we're occupying a country or not. Bring our troops home.

20 years is enough time for any country to get its act together. Sadly they didn't.

US MUST WITHDRAW THE TROOPS FROM AFGHANISTAN AND IRAQ. US MUST WORK WITH THE UN TO SEND PEACE FORCES IN SYRIA, IRAQ, YEMEN, AFGHANISTAN AND ETHIOPIA AS DONE AT THE LEBANON BORDER. UN MUST HAVE A PERMANENT PRESENCE IN ISRAEL REGION.
